Job Description: Basketball Coach

Position: Basketball Coach

Department: Sports and Athletics

Reports to: Head Coach or Athletic Director

Job Summary:
The Basketball Coach is responsible for leading and instructing athletes in developing their basketball skills, improving physical fitness, fostering teamwork, and promoting sportsmanship. The Coach will design and implement effective training sessions, provide guidance and support to athletes, and ensure compliance with team and league regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement comprehensive training programs to enhance athletes' basketball skills, including but not limited to shooting, dribbling, passing, rebounding, and defense.
2. Instruct athletes on proper techniques, strategies, and rules of the game, emphasizing safety and sportsmanship.
3. Conduct regular practice sessions, including warm-ups, drills, and scrimmages, to improve athletes' overall fitness, teamwork, and game performance.
4. Evaluate athletes' progress, identify areas for improvement, and provide constructive feedback and guidance for their individual development.
5. Plan and coordinate team strategies, game plans, and player rotations to maximize performance during competitions.
6. Collaborate with assistant coaches in selecting team members, assigning positions, and organizing team events.
7. Monitor and enforce adherence to team and league rules, regulations, and code of conduct, ensuring a positive and inclusive team environment.
8. Attend meetings with coaching staff, school administration, and parents to discuss team progress, player performance, and overall program development.
9. Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and other stakeholders regarding practice schedules, game schedules, and any changes or updates related to the team.
10. Maintain accurate records of team statistics, game results, and player participation for reporting purposes.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Proven experience as a Basketball Coach or in a similar coaching role.
2. In-depth knowledge of basketball rules, strategies, and techniques.
3. Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire athletes.
4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with athletes, parents, and coaching staff.
5. Demonstrated ability to design and implement effective training programs tailored to individual and team needs.
6. Strong organizational and time management skills to plan and coordinate practice sessions, games, and team events.
7. Ability to evaluate athletes' skills, provide constructive feedback, and develop personalized training plans.
